Overview
The Additional Agency Details step is the second of three screens in the self-signup onboarding flow you go through after creating your own Turris account. On this step you confirm who you are personally, tell Turris how to classify your organization, and record the legal and mailing addresses Turris uses on filings and correspondence.
What is the Additional Agency Details Step?
Additional Agency Details collects the organization profile Turris needs to provision your workspace correctly: the category that drives which product features turn on, your legal entity type, your trade and contact details, and your verified addresses. The form is pre-populated from anything Turris already has on file (your NPN lookup, the email and name you signed up with), so most fields are review-and-confirm rather than blank-page entry.
Who uses it. Agency owners, principals, and licensing managers setting up Turris for their own organization for the first time, with no carrier or MGA invite involved. The step appears automatically the first time you sign in after creating your account, and you go through it once.
What this step lets you do:
Confirm or correct the First Name and Last Name Turris uses for you as the signed-in user.
Pick the organization Category that matches your business so Turris turns on the right product features (an Agency workspace differs from a Wholesale Brokerage or Third Party Administrator workspace).
Record the legal Entity Type (C-Corp, LLC, Partnership, S-Corp, or Sole Proprietor) that Turris carries onto filings and compliance forms.
Capture your Doing Business As name, Website, Phone Number, and Fax so your market contacts and Turris support can reach you.
Enter your Legal Address and Mailing Address, with an address search that auto-fills the fields and a verification check that catches typos before they reach a filing.
Mark the legal and mailing addresses as identical with a single toggle to skip duplicate entry.
Accessing the Additional Agency Details Step
You do not reach this page from the left sidebar. Turris drops you onto it automatically the first time you sign in after creating an account, as the second step of the three-step onboarding wizard. The wizard tracks progress on your user record, so Turris always returns you to the next incomplete step until all three are done.
To reach this specific step:
Sign in to Turris with the account you created. If you have not finished the Identity step yet, Turris shows that first; Additional Agency Details stays grayed out in the Onboarding progress sidebar on the left.
Complete the Identity step and click Next. The wizard advances to Additional Agency Details.
The heading at the top of the page reads "Enter details about your Agency" (or your organization category, if you chose a different one on the Identity step).
The Sign Out button at the bottom of the progress sidebar lets you leave and resume later. Your progress saves as soon as you click Next on each step. This step has no Back button, so review the Identity step before you advance to it.
What's visible on the page:
Section | Element | Description |
Personal Information | First Name, Last Name | Editable text inputs, prefilled with the name on your user account. |
Personal Information | Email, Roles | Display only. Shows the email you signed up with and the role(s) on your member record (for example, Admin). |
Identify your Agency | Category | Dropdown listing Agency, Agency network, Wholesale brokerage, and Third party administrator. |
Identify your Agency | Entity Type | Dropdown listing C-Corp, LLC, Partnership, S-Corp, and Sole Proprietor. |
Identify your Agency | Doing Business As, Website, Phone Number, Fax | Text inputs. Phone Number and Fax accept the masked format |
Agency Address | Address search | A single Search for an address (optional) box above each address block. Picking a suggestion fills the fields below it. |
Agency Address | Mailing address same as legal address? | Toggle. When on, the Mailing Address column collapses and Turris reuses the Legal Address for both. |
Agency Address | Legal Address, Mailing Address | Each is a five-field group: First Line, Second Line (optional), City, State (searchable dropdown), Zip. |
Sidebar | Step progress indicators | Shows the three steps (Identity, Additional Agency Details, Privacy Policy) with the current step highlighted. |
Footer | Next button | Submits the form. Disabled until every required field passes validation. |
Note: The headings "Identify your Agency" and "Agency Address" read this way only when your category resolves to Agency. Change the Category dropdown to another option and the headings update to match (for example, "Wholesale Brokerage Address" and "Wholesale Brokerage Legal Address").
Filling Out the Form
When you'd do this. Right after the Identity step, when Turris asks for the organization profile it needs to provision your workspace. Plan a few minutes so you can confirm your entity type and legal address before you start.
Review the Personal Information section at the top. Edit First Name or Last Name if either is wrong. Email and Roles are display only and reflect your member record.
Open the Category dropdown and choose the option that matches your organization: Agency, Agency network, Wholesale brokerage, or Third party administrator. Pick carefully, because this drives which product features Turris turns on for your workspace.
Open the Entity Type dropdown and choose the legal structure that matches your formation documents.
Fill the Doing Business As, Website, Phone Number, and Fax fields. Doing Business As, Website, and Fax are optional. Phone Number is required and must match the format
+1 (123) 456-7890(the input enforces the mask as you type).Scroll to the Agency Address section. To fill an address quickly, type into the Search for an address (optional) box and pick a suggestion; Turris fills First Line, Second Line, City, State, and Zip for you. You can also type the five fields directly.
Leave the Mailing address same as legal address? toggle on if the two are the same, or turn it off to reveal a separate Mailing Address column.
If you turned the toggle off, fill the Mailing Address fields the same way (search box or manual entry).
Click Next at the bottom of the page. Turris verifies any address you typed by hand (see Verifying Your Address below), saves the data, marks this step complete on your record, and advances the wizard to the Privacy Policy step.
Field reference:
Field | Required | Description |
First Name | Yes | Your given name as you want it on the Turris account. Example: |
Last Name | Yes | Your surname. Example: |
Display only | The email you signed up with. Edit it from your user profile after onboarding, not here. | |
Roles | Display only | The role(s) on your member record. Typically Admin for the first user in a new workspace. |
Category | Yes | Organization category. Options: Agency, Agency network, Wholesale brokerage, Third party administrator. |
Entity Type | Yes | Legal entity type. Options: C-Corp, LLC, Partnership, S-Corp, Sole Proprietor. |
Doing Business As | No | Your trade or DBA name if it differs from the legal name. Leave blank if the legal name is the only name you use. |
Website | No | Your organization's public website. Must start with |
Phone Number | Yes | Primary business phone in the format |
Fax | No | Optional fax number in the same |
Mailing address same as legal address? | No | Toggle, on by default when your saved addresses already match. Turn on to skip duplicate entry; Turris reuses the legal address for mail. |
Legal Address First Line | Yes | Street address line 1 of the legal address. Example: |
Legal Address Second Line | No | Suite, floor, or unit number. Example: |
Legal Address City | Yes | City of the legal address. Example: |
Legal Address State | Yes | US state of the legal address. Choose from the searchable dropdown. |
Legal Address Zip | Yes | ZIP or ZIP+4 of the legal address. Example: |
Mailing Address (all fields) | Yes when toggle is off | Same five fields as the Legal Address group. Hidden when Mailing address same as legal address? is on. |
Tip: Use the Search for an address box rather than typing each field. Picking a suggestion fills the fields with a postal-verified address, which skips the verification check on submit and avoids typos that surface later on filings.
Warning: The Category you pick here drives which product features Turris activates for your workspace. Switching category after onboarding requires support assistance, so confirm the choice with whoever owns your operations before you click Next.
Verifying Your Address
When this happens. When you click Next, Turris checks any address you typed by hand against a postal-verification service before it saves the step. Addresses you picked from the Search for an address suggestions are already verified and skip this check. If Mailing address same as legal address? is on, Turris verifies the legal address once and applies the result to both.
Depending on the result, one of two dialogs may appear:
Confirm corrections. If the service finds a cleaner postal version of your address, a Confirm legal address corrections dialog opens (the title names whichever address is affected). It shows your entry under You entered next to the Verified version, line by line. Click Accept corrections to replace your fields with the verified version, or Edit address to close the dialog and fix the entry yourself. The step does not advance until you choose.
Could not verify. If the service cannot confirm the address is deliverable, a Could not verify legal address dialog opens. This is common for new construction, PO boxes, and recently built addresses. Click Submit anyway to keep the address as you entered it, or Edit address to return to the form and correct it.
Note: If the address service is unavailable, Turris lets your submission through without a dialog, so an outage never blocks you from finishing onboarding.
Address Verification Outcomes
When you click Next with a manually typed address, the verification result determines what you see and what you should do.
Result | What you'll see | What it means | What to do |
Verified exactly | Nothing; the step advances | Your address matched the postal record exactly. | No action needed. |
Verified with changes | Confirm corrections dialog with a check icon and a You entered vs Verified comparison | The service found a standardized version of your address. | Click Accept corrections to use the verified version, or Edit address to fix it yourself. |
Could not verify (undeliverable) | Could not verify address dialog with a yellow warning icon | The service could not confirm the address is deliverable. Often a false alarm for new builds and PO boxes. | Click Submit anyway if you know the address is correct, or Edit address to recheck your entry. |
Service unavailable | Nothing; the step advances | The verification service could not be reached. | No action needed; your address is saved as entered. |
Validation Rules
The Next button stays disabled until every required field passes validation. If a field fails, a short error message appears under it.
Field | Rule | Error message |
First Name, Last Name | Cannot be blank. | "First name is required" / "Last name is required" |
Category | A value must be chosen (the default "Select a category" option does not count). | "Category is required" |
Entity Type | A value must be chosen (the default "Select Entity Type" option does not count). | "Entity type is required" |
Website | Optional, but if provided must match a standard URL format. | "Enter a valid website URL" |
Phone Number | Required and must match | "Enter a valid phone number in format +1 (123) 456-7890" |
Fax | Optional, but if provided must match the same | "Enter a valid fax number in format +1 (123) 456-7890" |
Legal Address First Line, City, Zip | Each is required. | "Address line 1 is required" / "City is required" / "Postal code is required" |
Legal Address State | A state must be selected from the dropdown. | "State is required" |
Mailing Address | When Mailing address same as legal address? is off, every legal-address rule also applies to mailing. | Same per-field messages as Legal Address. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can I not edit my email here? Email lives on your user account, not your organization profile, so it shows as read-only on this step to prevent accidental changes during onboarding. Edit your email from your user profile in Settings once onboarding is complete.
What happens if I pick the wrong Category and finish onboarding? Category drives the product features Turris activates for your workspace, and switching it later requires support assistance. If you realize the choice was wrong, contact support@turris.com and our team will help you switch without losing data.
Why does the heading say "Agency Address" when I am not an Agency? The heading reflects the Category currently selected in the dropdown. As soon as you change Category to Agency network, Wholesale brokerage, or Third party administrator, the heading updates to match.
Do I have to enter both a legal and mailing address? Only when they are different. The Mailing address same as legal address? toggle reuses the legal address for both when on, so most users fill only the legal address fields.
Turris corrected my address. Do I have to accept the change? No. The Confirm corrections dialog gives you Accept corrections to use the verified version or Edit address to keep editing your own. The step will not advance until you choose one.
Verification says my address is undeliverable, but it is correct. What do I do? This happens with new construction, PO boxes, and addresses ahead of the postal data refresh. Click Submit anyway to keep your address exactly as entered.
Best Practices
Use the address search instead of typing. Picking a suggestion from the Search for an address box fills postal-verified fields and skips the submit-time verification check, which removes a whole class of typo-driven filing errors.
Pick Category deliberately. Switching category after onboarding requires support assistance. If your business has both retail and wholesale lines, talk to your operations lead before choosing.
Have your formation documents handy. The Entity Type and legal address should match what is on file with your state. A mismatch here can cascade into compliance filings later.
Leave optional fields blank when in doubt. Doing Business As, Website, and Fax can be filled later from workspace settings. Do not invent values to satisfy the form.
Sign out and resume rather than rushing. Your progress saves when you click Next, and Turris brings you back to the same step on your next sign-in. There is no benefit to powering through if you are missing information.
