Agency Agreements

Written by Sven Gerlach

Overview

The Agreements tab on an agency's detail page is where you keep every contract that papers your relationship with that agency in one place: the producer agreement the agency signs through Turris, the supporting documents that travel with it (folders such as ACH forms), and any extra contracts you upload yourself (addendums, premium agreements, side letters). It is the single screen your team checks to answer "is this agency fully papered?" without digging through email or a shared drive.

What is the Agreements Tab?

The Agreements tab shows the signed contract container for one agency, plus an Other Documents section for files you upload by hand. The container surfaces the producer agreement, any document folders, and any extra signed documents from the signing envelope, alongside a header card that tells you who has signed and when. You can also reissue or swap the producer agreement signing envelope from here.

Who uses it. Licensing, compliance, and onboarding teams at an MGA or carrier, the people responsible for getting an agency signed up and keeping the paperwork audit-ready. They open this tab when an agency is mid-onboarding, when a signing envelope needs to be reissued, or when an auditor asks to see every executed document.

Outcome-shaped capabilities:

  • Confirm at a glance whether the producer agreement has been signed by both the agency and your MGA, and on what dates, before you turn on appointments

  • See the producer agreement, its supporting folders, and any extra signed documents from the envelope without leaving the tab

  • View or download any document with one click

  • Upload supporting contracts (addendums, premium agreements, side letters) and track who has signed each one

  • Reissue the producer agreement signing envelope when a signatory changes or an error needs to be corrected

  • Swap which contract template an invited agency will sign, as long as they have not yet reached the signing step

  • File a new version of an uploaded contract while keeping the prior file for audit

  • Soft-delete an uploaded contract so it drops out of view but stays available for audit

Note: The producer agreement is created when the agency is invited to sign or signs through Turris, not by uploading a file here. The New button on this tab only adds your own supporting documents. To set up or change which producer agreement template an agency receives, use Restart Signing or Change Contract (described below).

Accessing the Agreements Tab

Left sidebar → Agencies → click any agency row → Agreements tab.

What you see depends on whether the agency has been invited to sign a producer agreement:

  • A signing container exists: the tab shows the header card, the producer agreement, any document folders, any other signed documents, and the Other Documents section.

  • No signing container, but you have uploaded documents: the tab shows a No producer agreement yet message ("This agency has not been invited to sign a producer agreement, so there is no signed contract to display. The uploaded documents below remain available.") followed by your uploaded documents.

  • Nothing at all: the tab shows a No contract yet message ("This agency has not been invited to sign a producer agreement, so there is no contract to display.").

The New button sits in the top-right of the tab. It only appears when you have permission to manage the agency.

The header card

When a container exists, a header card sits at the top of the tab:

Element

What it shows

Container name + status badge

The contract's name and a status pill (Awaiting Turris setup, Re-wire in progress, Ready, or Archived) describing how far Turris has set up the underlying contract template.

Summary line

A one-line count, e.g. "1 producer agreement, 2 folders, 3 additional documents".

Agency Signed

A green check or grey cross showing whether the agency has signed, followed by the signature date (or a dash when not signed).

MGA Signed

A green check or grey cross showing whether your MGA has counter-signed, followed by the signature date (or a dash).

Effective Date

The contract's effective date, or a dash when none is set.

Three-dot menu

In the top-right of the card. Opens Restart Signing and Change Contract. Shown only when you can manage the agency.

The document sections

Below the header card, documents are grouped into labelled sections (each appears only when it has content):

Section

What it contains

Producer Agreement

The single producer agreement document. Before signing completes it shows the unsigned file from the template; a data-extraction badge appears on this row while metadata is being read from the document.

Additional Document Folders

Named, collapsible folders of signed documents from the signing envelope (for example an ACH form). Each folder shows a document count and expands by default.

Other Signed Documents

Signed documents from the envelope that don't belong to a named folder.

Other Documents

Contracts you uploaded yourself (addendums, premium agreements, side letters). Each row shows a version count, plus a red Deleted badge if it has been soft-deleted.

Every document row carries a three-dot menu. Producer agreement, folder, and other-signed-document rows offer View and Download; Other Documents rows add Upload new and Delete.

Note: The DocuSign certificate of completion is kept on file for audit but is intentionally not listed on this tab.

Adding an Other Contract

When you'd do this. You have an addendum, premium agreement, side letter, or any other document tied to the relationship that is not produced by the Turris signing flow, and you want it stored alongside the agency for future reference.

There is no limit on the number of contracts you can upload. Metadata is captured manually at upload time, and there is no automatic extraction for uploaded contracts.

  1. Click New in the top-right of the tab.

  2. Choose Other Contract from the dropdown (its helper text reads "Create a new contract").

  3. The Add any Other Contract slide-over opens, with the subtitle "Producer agreement addendums, premium agreements, or any other contract with this agency". Drag a file into the upload area or click to browse.

  4. Fill in the metadata:

Field

Required

Description

File upload

Yes

The contract file. The Submit button stays disabled until a file is attached.

Has Agency Signed?

Optional (toggle)

Turn on if the agency has signed this document. Defaults to off.

Has MGA Signed?

Optional (toggle)

Turn on if your MGA has counter-signed. Defaults to off.

Effective Date

No

The contract's effective date, if known. Leave blank to show a dash.

Name

Yes

The display label shown in the Other Documents section. Example: 2026 Premium Addendum, Travelers Side Letter.

  1. Click Submit.

Note: Submit stays disabled until both a file is attached and a non-empty Name is entered.

Restarting Producer Agreement Signing

When you'd do this. The agency needs to sign the producer agreement again: the original signatory left, a clause changed, or the envelope was sent in error.

  1. Open the header card's three-dot menu and click Restart Signing.

  2. The Request new Contract Signature slide-over opens, with the subtitle "Choose a contract template you want to use to restart the signing process".

  3. If the agency has already signed the current version but your MGA has not yet counter-signed, a warning box titled "Agreement Awaiting Counter-Signature" appears: "The producer agreement has been signed by the agency and is awaiting counter-signature. Restarting will void the current envelope and require both parties to sign again."

  4. An information box ("Re-request Contract Signing") explains that this resets the signing process and re-invites the agency's designated contract signatory, and that it can only be done while the invited agency is on the contract signing step.

  5. Pick a template from the Select a contract template dropdown. Active templates that are ready to use appear normally, with the default one labelled <Name> (Default). Templates that are not ready are listed but greyed out, with their status appended (for example (Awaiting Turris setup)).

  6. Fill in any custom fields the template requires (shown under Additional Agreement Information).

  7. Click Restart to send a fresh signing envelope to the agency's contract signatory.

Note: Restart Signing is disabled until the agency has completed every onboarding step that comes before contract signing. While it is disabled, the menu item shows the tooltip "You cannot restart contract signing because the agency has not reached the contract signing step". It is also disabled when the agency association has been deleted.

Changing the Producer Agreement Before Onboarding Completes

When you'd do this. You invited an agency but they are still mid-onboarding, and you realize they should be on a different contract template (for example a wholesaler template instead of a retail one).

  1. Open the header card's three-dot menu and click Change Contract.

  2. The Change Contract slide-over opens, with the subtitle "Choose the contract template you want to use to change the contract".

  3. An information box ("Change Contract") warns that this replaces the current producer agreement with a new one and cannot be done once the invitee has advanced to the contract signing step.

  4. Pick the replacement template from the Select a contract template dropdown (the default is labelled <Name> (Default)).

  5. Fill in any custom fields the new template requires (under Additional Agreement Information).

  6. Click Change to apply the swap.

Note: Change Contract is only available for invited agencies that still have at least one outstanding onboarding step before signing. Once the agency reaches the signing step, use Restart Signing instead. While disabled, the menu item shows the tooltip "Contract can only be changed for invited agencies that haven't yet reached the contract signing step", or "Cannot change contract for deleted associations" when the agency association has been deleted.

Uploading a New Version of an Other Contract

When you'd do this. An uploaded contract has been amended and you want to file the revised file under the same record while keeping the prior file for audit.

  1. Open the three-dot menu on the Other Documents row you want to update and click Upload new.

  2. The Update Contract slide-over opens, with the subtitle "Create a new version of this contract". A help icon next to the subtitle reminds you that a new version is created and the replaced version stays intact for future audit trails.

  3. Drag the new file in or browse to it. You can also adjust the signature toggles, Effective Date, and Name at the same time.

  4. Click Submit.

The row's version count increments by one and the prior file remains accessible in history.

Warning: Upload new is disabled when the document has already been deleted ("This document has already been deleted") or when the agency association itself has been deleted ("This association has been deleted"). Hover the disabled item to see which condition applies.

Deleting an Other Contract

When you'd do this. An uploaded contract was filed by mistake or has been superseded, and you want it out of view without losing the audit trail.

  1. Open the three-dot menu on the Other Documents row and click Delete.

  2. A confirmation modal titled "Delete Contract" appears: "This will mark the contract as deleted. Deleted contracts will still be accessible in the system but will be clearly labeled as deleted."

  3. Click Delete to confirm, or Cancel to back out.

The row then carries a red Deleted badge instead of disappearing, so it stays available to view, download, and audit.

Warning: Only uploaded documents (the Other Documents section) can be deleted. The producer agreement and signed envelope documents have no Delete action; reissue or replace the producer agreement with Restart Signing or Change Contract instead. Delete is also disabled on a document that is already deleted, or when the agency association has been deleted.

Viewing and Downloading Documents

When you'd do this. You need to read or save a copy of any document on the tab: the producer agreement, a folder document, an other signed document, or an uploaded contract.

  1. Open the three-dot menu at the end of the document's row.

  2. Click View to open the file in a new browser tab, or Download to save it locally.

Collapsible folders under Additional Document Folders open by default; click a folder's header to collapse or re-expand it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a producer agreement? You don't upload it here. The producer agreement is created when the agency is invited to sign or signs through Turris. To set up the signing envelope or pick a different template, use Restart Signing (for agencies that have reached the signing step) or Change Contract (for invited agencies still mid-onboarding).

Why does the New button only offer "Other Contract"? The tab's New button is for your own supporting documents: addendums, premium agreements, side letters. The producer agreement itself comes from the signing flow, not from a manual upload.

What's the difference between Restart Signing and Change Contract? Restart Signing is for agencies that have reached the contract signing step and need to sign again; it voids the current envelope and sends a fresh one. Change Contract is only for invited agencies still mid-onboarding and lets you swap which template they will see before they reach the signing step.

Why is Restart Signing (or Change Contract) greyed out? Restart Signing is disabled until the agency finishes every onboarding step before signing, and on deleted associations. Change Contract is only enabled for invited agencies that still have an onboarding step outstanding before signing, and is disabled on deleted associations. Hover the disabled menu item to see the exact reason.

Why is Data Extraction Status only on the producer agreement? Automatic metadata extraction runs only on the producer agreement document. Uploaded Other Documents capture metadata manually at upload time, so they carry no extraction badge.

What happens when I delete an uploaded contract? Deleting marks it as deleted but does not erase it. The row keeps a red Deleted badge and stays available to view, download, and audit.

Can I delete the producer agreement? No. The producer agreement and the signed envelope documents have no Delete action, which preserves the historical record. Use Restart Signing or Change Contract to reissue or replace the producer agreement.

Best Practices

  1. Check the header card before turning on appointments. Confirm both Agency Signed and MGA Signed show a green check and a date so you know the relationship is fully papered.

  2. Reissue, don't improvise, when a signature is wrong. Use Restart Signing to void a bad envelope and send a clean one rather than uploading a side document to compensate.

  3. Keep template choice deliberate. Change Contract only works before the agency reaches the signing step; if you spot the wrong template, swap it early rather than waiting until they are signing.

  4. Use Upload new instead of deleting and re-uploading. It preserves the version history and the audit trail; the prior file stays accessible for inspection.

  5. Name uploaded contracts clearly. The Name you enter is the only label shown in the Other Documents section, so use something a reviewer will recognize months later (for example 2026 Premium Addendum).
