Overview
The Agents page is the master roster of every producer associated with your organization across all of the agencies you manage. From here you can add agents one at a time or in bulk, monitor each agent's NIPR compliance sync status, assign agents to one or more agencies, archive or delete a producer, and click any row to open a full view of their licenses, alternate names, and PDB report.
What is the Agents Page?
The Agents page is where you keep one trusted directory of every licensed producer writing business under your organization, so your licensing team can confirm each agent is appointed, licensed, and synced with NIPR before it turns into a compliance problem.
Who uses it. Licensing managers, principals, and operations staff at agencies, broker-dealers, and TPAs. They use it to onboard new producers, keep contact details current, reconcile which producer belongs to which branch or division, and pull fresh NIPR compliance data before filings or appointment requests.
It allows you to:
See every producer in your organization in one consolidated list with name, NPN, SSN-on-file indicator, contact information, and assigned agency.
Add a single agent through a guided slide-over, or upload many at once through the Bulk Upload Agents wizard.
Auto-populate an agent's name by NPN or by state license number, so you don't re-key names that NIPR already has.
Assign one or more agents to additional agencies in your organization in a single bulk action.
Trigger an on-demand NIPR compliance data sync for an individual agent or for a selected batch.
Archive a producer who has left and restore them later without losing history, or permanently delete a producer and their data.
Click any row to open the agent's detail page (overview, licenses map, other names, PDB report).
Note: The labels for "Agent" and "Agency" change based on your organization category. For example, Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) may see "Claims Adjuster" and "Claims Org" in place of "Agent" and "Agency." This article uses the default labels.
Accessing the Agents Page
Open Left sidebar → Agents (the people icon). The page loads with the Active producers in your organization.
What's visible on the page
Element | Description |
Add dropdown (top-right) | Two options: Agent ("Add a single Agent" — opens the Add Agent slide-over) and Agents ("Bulk-upload Agents" — opens the Bulk Upload Agents wizard). Shown only to users with create permission. |
Filter bar | Houses the agencies multi-select dropdown, the Status badge toggle (Active / Archived), and, when you have bulk-action permission, an Actions dropdown for operations on the current selection. |
Search box | Free-text search above the table. Matches name, NPN, contact details, assigned agency name, and sync status. |
Agent | Circular avatar with the producer's initials next to their full name. Default sort, ascending; fuzzy-searchable. |
ID | Two stacked rows — NPN: (the producer's National Producer Number, with a click-to-copy control, or a dash if none) and SSN: (a green check when a Social Security Number is on file, or a dash). NPN is substring-searchable. |
Contact | The producer's email and phone, each with a click-to-copy control. A dash is shown when no contact information is on file. |
Assigned Agencies | A pill listing the agency the row is associated with. A producer assigned to several agencies appears once per assignment. |
Compliance Data Synchronization | A color-coded badge showing the current NIPR sync status. A green cloud-download icon button appears next to the badge when sync has not started and the producer has an NPN on file. A red warning-triangle icon with a popover appears when the producer's compliance data synchronization is paused. |
Row checkbox | Select individual rows, or use the header checkbox to select all rows on the current page. Visible only to users with bulk-action permissions. Archived rows show a disabled gray box and cannot be selected. |
Row Actions menu (three-dot icon at the end of each row) | Opens Update, Archive / Restore, and Delete, depending on your permissions and whether the producer is active or archived. |
Click anywhere on a row (outside the checkbox or the row Actions menu) to open the producer's detail page.
If your organization has no agents yet, the page shows: "No agents found. Please add your first agent using the 'Add' button above."
Adding a Single Agent
When you'd do this. A new producer has joined the agency, or you're onboarding one producer to a branch and want to set their compliance baseline before requesting appointments.
Open Left sidebar → Agents.
Click Add in the top-right, then click Agent.
The Add Agent slide-over opens. In the Find agent by box at the top, choose NPN or License number. When a match is found, the producer's first, middle, and last name are auto-populated and locked.
Fill in the fields:
Field | Required | Description |
Find agent by | No | Toggle between NPN and License number. NPN shows an Agent NPN field; License number shows a License State picker plus a License Number field. A successful lookup auto-populates the name fields. You can also skip the lookup and type the name manually. |
Agent NPN | No | The National Producer Number, used to auto-populate the name. Example: |
First Name | Yes | Producer's legal first name. Disabled when auto-populated from a lookup. |
Middle Name | No | Producer's middle name or initial. |
Last Name | Yes | Producer's legal last name. Disabled when auto-populated from a lookup. |
No | A valid email address. Example:
Phone Number | No | A valid US cell phone number in the format |
Date of Birth | No | For compliance tracking. Date picker; cannot be in the future. |
Position | No | Job title within the organization. Example: |
Social Security Number | No | Masked input in the format |
DRLP States | No | Multi-select. Pick every state where the producer is the Designated Responsible Licensed Producer. Leave empty if the producer is not a DRLP. |
Assign to Agencies | Yes (at least one) | Multi-select of the agencies inside your organization. Defaults to the Top Company. You can pick more than one. |
Click Add.
Tip: If you don't yet have the producer's NPN, switch Find agent by to License number and enter a state and license number. A successful lookup fills in the NPN and the name fields for you, so you don't risk spelling a name differently than NIPR has it on file.
Bulk-Uploading Agents
When you'd do this. You're onboarding an agency you just acquired, migrating from another system, or importing a producer roster. The bulk-upload wizard maps your file's columns to Turris fields, validates each row, and surfaces duplicates before anything is committed.
Open Left sidebar → Agents.
Click Add in the top-right, then click Agents.
The Bulk Upload Agents welcome modal opens. It lists the data points to collect (First Name and Last Name are required; everything else is optional). Review it, then continue.
Upload your file. Accepted formats: XLS / XLSX, CSV, XML, or JSON.
Map your file's column headers to the Turris fields:
Column | Required | Description |
First Name | Yes | Producer's first name. Auto-populated when NPN or license is provided, or enter manually. |
Last Name | Yes | Producer's last name. Auto-populated when NPN or license is provided, or enter manually. |
Middle Name | No | Also matches columns labeled |
Agent NPN | No | The producer's National Producer Number. If provided, the name is auto-populated. Must be unique across the upload. |
License State Code + License Number | No | Alternative to NPN. A two-character state code plus a license number. A successful lookup auto-populates the NPN and name and then clears these two fields. |
SSN | No | Format |
No | The producer's email address.
Phone | No | The producer's phone number. |
DRLP States | No | US state/territory codes where the producer is the Designated Responsible Licensed Producer. Select multiple from the dropdown. |
Date of Birth | No | Date format. |
Position | No | The producer's job title. |
Agency NPN | No | Attaches each agent to the specific agency inside your organization with this NPN. |
Agency FEIN | No | Alternative to Agency NPN for identifying the receiving agency. |
Use the Find Agency by Name action inside the wizard if you only know an agency's legal name — it searches your organization and returns the NPN you can paste into the Agency NPN column.
Resolve any validation errors flagged inline.
Submit the batch.
Note: If you're the top company (TopCo), you can attach agents to any agency in your organization structure. Otherwise, agents can only be attached to your own agency.
Tip: Leave the Agency NPN / Agency FEIN columns blank for any rows you want attached to your default agency. Only populate them when a row should land on a specific branch.
Bulk Actions
Select one or more producers with the row checkboxes, then click the Actions dropdown above the table. The dropdown is visible only to users with the matching bulk-action permission.
Assign to Agencies
When you'd do this. A producer has moved to a different branch, or you want one producer to write under several of your agencies at once. This action reconciles the selected agencies against the current set: agencies you check are added, agencies you leave unchecked are removed.
Select one or more producers with the row checkboxes.
Click Actions → Assign to [Agencies].
The Assign … to [Agencies] slide-over opens. The Selected Agents section at the top lists each chosen producer (name and NPN); the Select [Agencies] section below lists every available agency (Top Company plus each branch), each showing its initials avatar, legal name, and "NPN: … • Branch" or "No NPN • Top Company".
Click an agency row to toggle it on or off. A filled check box marks the agencies that will be assigned.
Click Assign. (The button is disabled until at least one agency is selected.)
The table refreshes once the operation completes, and the row selection clears automatically.
Warning: This is a set replacement, not an add-only operation. Agencies you leave unchecked are removed from each selected producer. Confirm the full intended set before clicking Assign.
Sync Compliance Data
When you'd do this. You want fresh NIPR data (licenses, appointments, PDB) for several producers at once — for example, before a quarterly compliance review or before requesting new appointments.
Select one or more producers. Only producers whose sync status is Not Started and who have an NPN on file are eligible; the action counts and syncs just those.
Click Actions → Sync Compliance Data.
The Bulk Agent Data Synchronisation confirmation modal explains that the process retrieves all license and appointment data for the selected agents and may take a few minutes.
Click Start Synchronization.
Each producer's status badge updates in place as the sync runs in the background.
Syncing a Single Agent
When you'd do this. You just added one producer, or you need fresh NIPR data for a single producer without selecting a batch.
Find the producer's row. If their sync status is Not Started and they have an NPN on file, a green cloud-download icon button appears next to the Compliance Data Synchronization badge (hover label: Start Agent Data Synchronisation).
Click the green cloud-download icon button.
The Agent Data Synchronisation modal explains that the process retrieves the producer's license and appointment data and may take a minute.
Click Start Synchronization.
The badge moves to Queued, then Processing, and settles on the final status in place.
Note: The inline sync button is hidden once a sync is queued, processing, or complete, and for producers without an NPN. Archived producers can't be synced — the button is disabled with the tooltip "Cannot synchronize archived agent data."
Per-Row Actions
The row Actions menu (three-dot icon at the end of each row) opens different options depending on your permissions and the producer's status.
Action | When Available | What It Does |
Update | You have update permission. | Opens the Update Agent slide-over pre-filled with the producer's current details. If the NPN can't be edited (because compliance data has already been synced or queued), the NPN field is locked and shown read-only; otherwise you can re-identify the producer by NPN or License number. A note confirms when an SSN is already on file. Click Save when done (Save stays disabled until you make a valid change). |
Archive | You have delete permission and the producer is active. | Soft-removes the producer across every association while preserving their record. A confirmation modal shows how many markets the producer is associated with; if that count is greater than zero, it warns that an email will be sent to the primary contact at each market to review whether the producer's appointment also needs termination. |
Restore | You have delete permission and the producer is archived. | Reactivates the producer across all previously archived associations. A confirmation modal asks you to verify. |
Delete | You have delete permission. | Permanently removes the producer from this agency and from every associated market. If no other agency references the producer, all related data is also permanently deleted — the agent record, every license, appointment, regulatory action, NIPR data subscription, license-holder address, and contact-info record. This cannot be undone. |
Note: Use the Status → Archived badge filter to see archived producers and reach the Restore action.
Warning: Archive is reversible and keeps the producer's history; Delete is permanent. Use Archive for producers who have left but whose history you may need; reserve Delete for records created in error.
Filtering and Searching
The filter bar sits above the table. Hover the info icon for an inline reminder of what the filters do.
Filter | Type | Purpose | Example use |
Agencies | Multi-select dropdown | Narrow the list to producers assigned to one or more specific agencies. Options come from the agencies represented in the loaded data. The selection persists in the URL, so the view is shareable. | A multi-branch broker filtering to just the East-coast branch's roster. |
Status | Badge toggle | Show Active producers (default, blue) or Archived producers (red). | Auditing or restoring producers who left the company last quarter. |
The search box matches against the producer's first / last name (fuzzy), NPN (substring), email, phone, assigned agency name (fuzzy), and the sync-status label (fuzzy). Partial matches work — typing Jo finds Joanne and Jonathan; typing 4163 finds NPN 416344; typing Success surfaces every synced producer.
Compliance Data Synchronization Status
The Compliance Data Synchronization column reflects NIPR's view of the producer's licenses, appointments, and PDB record. Each status drives a different next step.
Color | Label | Meaning | What to do about it |
Neutral (gray) | Not Started | NIPR sync has not been initiated for this producer. | Click the inline green cloud-download icon button (requires an NPN on file) or use the Actions → Sync Compliance Data bulk action. |
Blue | Queued | The sync request is queued for NIPR. | No action; the status moves to Processing automatically. |
Yellow | Processing | The NIPR sync is running. | Wait for the badge to settle. No refresh needed — it updates in place. |
Green | Success | NIPR returned data and it has been ingested into Turris. | The producer's licenses, appointments, and PDB report are now available on the detail page. |
Red | Error | NIPR returned an error, or our worker could not process the response. | Open the producer's detail page to inspect what was returned, and contact support if the error persists. |
Neutral (gray) | No Data | NIPR could not find any compliance data for this NPN. | Verify the NPN is correct (use Update). If the NPN is right, the producer may not yet be in NIPR's PDB. |
Neutral (gray) | Not Applicable | The producer has no NPN, so a NIPR sync isn't possible. | Use Update to add an NPN, then sync. |
Red warning-triangle icon | (paused indicator) | The producer's compliance data synchronization is paused. | Ongoing change alerts won't be received until the subscription is resumed. Contact support if you expect alerts to keep running. The icon is hidden while a sync is processing. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't I see Agents in the left navigation? The Agents item is shown in the downstream-entity left sidebar. If it's missing, you may not be signed in to a downstream-entity account; ask your Turris administrator to verify your access.
What's the difference between Add Agent and Bulk Upload Agents? Add Agent creates one producer at a time through a guided slide-over. Bulk Upload Agents opens a wizard that lets you upload a file containing many producers at once, map columns to Turris fields, validate rows, and submit the batch in a single operation.
Can I assign the same producer to multiple agencies? Yes. Use the Actions → Assign to [Agencies] bulk action and check every agency the producer should belong to. The action reconciles the assignment so the final set matches exactly what you selected.
What's the difference between archiving and deleting an agent? Archive is reversible: it hides the producer from the default Active view, removes them from associated markets, and emails the primary contact at each market to review whether the appointment should be terminated — but it preserves the record so you can Restore it later. Delete is permanent: it removes the producer from this agency and every market, and if no other agency references them, it also deletes the agent record and all related licenses, appointments, regulatory actions, sync subscriptions, addresses, and contacts. Deletion cannot be undone.
Why is the inline sync button missing on some rows? The green cloud-download icon button only appears when the producer's sync status is Not Started and they have an NPN on file. Once a sync is queued, processing, or complete, it's hidden. Producers without an NPN can't be synced — use the row Update action to add an NPN first.
What does the red warning-triangle icon next to a sync status mean? It indicates that the producer's compliance data synchronization is paused. Ongoing alerts (license changes, appointment changes, regulatory actions) won't be delivered until the subscription is resumed. The icon is hidden while a sync is processing.
Why is the NPN field locked when I update an agent? Once compliance data has been synced or queued for a producer, the NPN is fixed to keep the synced records aligned with the correct producer. If the NPN was never synced, you can still re-identify the producer by NPN or by license number.
Best Practices
Use Bulk Upload Agents for any batch above a handful of producers. The wizard catches duplicate NPNs and SSNs automatically and lets your team work in a spreadsheet rather than re-keying details into the slide-over.
Identify by NPN first, license number second, name third. Auto-population from NIPR is faster than typing names and guarantees the spelling matches every state record.
Filter Status to Archived before restoring or auditing departed producers. The default Active view hides archived rows, so checking the archived list before a quarterly review surfaces anything that might need to come back.
Use Assign to [Agencies] instead of re-creating producers across branches. Re-creating a producer at a new branch loses their compliance history; bulk-assigning preserves it.
Archive instead of Delete unless the record was created in error. Archiving is reversible and keeps the producer's full history; deletion permanently destroys it.
Check the sync badge before drilling in for compliance review. A red status (Error) or No Data signals that the licenses and appointments shown on the detail page may be stale or missing.
