Settings: Personal Notifications

Written by Sven Gerlach

Overview

Your Event Log settings are where you choose, event by event, which compliance and lifecycle activity across your agencies and agents shows up in your in-app Event Log. Tuning these toggles keeps your Activity feed focused on the work that belongs to you instead of every event the platform raises for your organization.

What is the Event Log?

The Event Log settings page lets you curate your personal in-app activity feed: for each event Turris can raise about your agencies, agents, licenses, contracts, and authorizations, you decide whether it appears in your Event Log. Preferences are per user, so quieting your own feed never changes what teammates see.

Who uses it. Every signed-in member of an upstream organization (typically licensing managers, compliance leads, agency relationship owners, and onboarding specialists) uses this page to tune their personal alert volume so they notice the events that actually require their attention without scrolling past noise from the rest of the platform.

Key capabilities:

  • Decide per event whether it shows up in your Event Log by flipping a single In-App toggle.

  • Read a plain-language description of when each event fires by clicking the ? icon next to the event name.

  • Quiet a whole category (New Entity Events, License Events, Contract Events, Compliance Events, Authorization Events, or Other Events) by expanding its section and turning the toggles off.

  • Trust that changes save automatically: there is no Save button, and each toggle persists the moment you click it.

  • Keep email separate: this page controls only your in-app Event Log, while email digest cadence lives on the Notification Email page under Personal settings.

Accessing the Event Log

  1. In the app's left sidebar, click Settings (the gear icon at the bottom of the sidebar). The Settings window opens.

  2. The window opens on Products & Compliance by default. In the Settings sidebar, find the Personal group and click Personal to expand it.

  3. Click Event Log (the bell icon). You can also type event into the Search settings box at the top of the Settings sidebar to jump straight to it.

The URL becomes /upstream?settings-modal=open&path=notifications, so the page can also be deep-linked from a bookmark or an internal runbook.

What's visible on the page. The panel opens with a header titled Event Log and a one-line explanation: "Choose which events show up in your Event Log." Below the header are collapsible accordion sections. For an upstream organization, the sections appear in this order:

Section

What it covers

Events included

New Entity Events

New branches you create and the pre-contract review stages an onboarding agency moves through.

4 events

License Events

License activity for your agencies and agents: new licenses, renewals, and expiration warnings.

4 events

Contract Events

Producer-agreement execution and missing-signature alerts on uploaded agreements.

2 events

Compliance Events

Compliance-sync results and status changes, including sync failures and sync-limit warnings.

4 events

Authorization Events

Authorization and appointment changes, including blocked authorization attempts.

3 events

Other Events

Notifications that don't fit the other sections, such as an undeliverable contact email.

1 event

Each section header shows the section name, a count badge (for example, "4 events"), and a chevron that rotates when the section opens. All sections are collapsed by default; click anywhere on a section header to expand it.

Opening an event row. Inside an expanded section, every event is laid out the same way:

Element

Purpose

Event name

Human-readable label (for example, License expiring, Producer agreement executed, Agent authorization blocked).

? popover

Click the question-mark icon next to the name to read a detailed explanation of when the event fires and which entities it covers.

In-App toggle

Turns Event Log visibility for this event on or off for the signed-in user. The label In-App sits to the right of the toggle.

Note: The sections and events you see depend on your persona. Upstream organizations do not receive policy-expiration or corporate-registration events, so those categories are not shown on this page.

Configuring Your Event Log

When you'd do this. A teammate added a license-status report to their workflow and asks you to mirror it, or your Event Log is filling up with sync confirmations you never act on. Open the Event Log settings and adjust which events reach your feed.

  1. Open Settings → Personal → Event Log.

  2. Click the section header for the category you want to change (for example, License Events). The accordion expands.

  3. Find the event row you want to adjust. Click the ? next to the event name if you need a reminder of when it fires.

  4. Click the In-App toggle to add the event to your Event Log (on) or hide it (off).

  5. Repeat for any other event rows. There is no Save button; each toggle persists the moment you click it.

Note: Changes save optimistically: the toggle updates immediately, then writes to the server in the background. If the write fails, Turris rolls the toggle back to its previous state and shows an Error alert reading "Failed to update notification settings." Wait a moment, then toggle the switch again.

Tip: Turning an event off here only hides it from your Event Log. Teammates keep seeing it based on their own preferences, and email delivery is unaffected, since it is controlled separately on the Notification Email page.

Available Event Log Events

Every event below appears in the upstream Event Log settings. The "Fires when" column mirrors the explanation shown in the ? popover for that row.

Fires when

Branch creation by upstream entity

A branch was created by your organization.

An agency has completed onboarding and is awaiting your review before contract signing.

License added

A new license has been created for one of your agencies or agents.

Compliance Events

Event

Fires when

A synchronization failed for one of your agencies or agents.

Entity appointed

A new entity has been appointed or assigned to your upstream organization.

Agent authorization blocked

An agent could not be authorized in one or more states because the agent is not compliant, the agency license is not compliant, or the agency is not yet authorized in those states. Review compliance and re-authorize the agent.

Other Events

Event

Fires when

Contact email undeliverable

A contact email address was detected as undeliverable. Review and update the contact's email address.

Reading the Toggles

Each event has a single In-App toggle. There are no color-coded statuses to interpret, just the on/off state of each switch and the per-section count badge.

State

Appearance

Meaning

What to do about it

On

Toggle filled and slid to the right

The event will appear in your Event Log.

Leave it on for activity you want to track.

Off

Toggle gray and slid to the left

The event is hidden from your Event Log.

Turn it on if you start missing this kind of activity.

Count badge

"N events" pill in the section header

How many event types live in that section.

Use it to gauge how much each category can add to your feed before you expand it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the events I enable show up? In your in-app Event Log, surfaced in the Activity section of the left sidebar. The count next to Activity reflects unread items.

Does this page control my email notifications? No. This page controls only your in-app Event Log. Email delivery is configured separately on the Notification Email page under Personal settings, where you set your digest cadence.

Are these preferences shared with my team? No. Event Log settings are personal to your user account. Each teammate configures their own page; turning an event off here will not affect anyone else.

Do my preferences sync across the devices I use? Yes. Preferences are stored with your account, so they apply on every browser or device where you sign in.

Why is there no Save button? The page auto-saves every time you flip a toggle. The change persists the moment the switch moves; there is nothing to confirm.

What happens if a save fails? Turris rolls the toggle back to its previous state and shows an Error alert reading "Failed to update notification settings." Wait a few seconds and toggle the switch again.

Why don't I see policy or corporate-registration events? Those event types are not emitted to upstream organizations, so they never appear on this page. The sections you see are limited to the events your organization can actually receive.

Best Practices

  1. Turn off awareness-only events you don't act on. Compliance data synchronized, License added, License renewed, and Branch creation by upstream entity are confirmations; hiding them keeps your Event Log focused on activity that needs a decision.

  2. Keep action-required events on. Pre-contract review pending, Agent authorization blocked, Compliance status degraded, License expiring, and License expired all carry business consequences if missed, so leave them in your feed.

  3. Configure email separately for time-sensitive items. This page only controls the in-app Event Log; set your email cadence on Personal → Notification Email so urgent events still reach you when you are signed out of Turris.

  4. Coordinate coverage with teammates. Because preferences are personal, make sure at least one person in each role (licensing, onboarding, compliance) keeps the critical events turned on.

  5. Reread the ? popovers after each release. Event definitions are occasionally refined and new event types are added; the ? icon always shows the current definition.
