Market Detail

Written by Sven Gerlach

Overview

The Market Detail page is your workspace for a single upstream relationship. Open it from the Markets list whenever you need to update the market's profile, share your data room with a contact who has no Turris login, manage the producers you have placed with the market, track who is involved on each side, or upload and review the documents that govern the relationship.

What is the Market Detail Page?

The Market Detail page brings everything about one carrier, MGA, wholesaler, or other upstream partner into a single tabbed dashboard, so you can move between profile updates, producer rosters, contact lists, and documents without leaving the relationship.

Who uses it. Licensing managers, agency principals, and onboarding specialists at downstream organizations. It is the page they open whenever they need to verify or correct what Turris knows about one market: fixing a stale portal URL, reassigning who owns the relationship, sharing onboarding documents with a new contact, or confirming which producers are placed with the market.

Here is what you can do on this page:

  • Check the market's category, portal URL, website, and trade name (DBA) at a glance on the Profile tab.

  • Turn on a public Data Room link so a market contact without a Turris account can review the documents you have shared.

  • Assign an Owner from your organization so colleagues know who runs point on the relationship.

  • Edit the profile fields (Portal URL, Website, DBA, Category, Owner) from one slide-over.

  • Switch between Profile, Producers (shown as Adjusters for claims organizations), Entity Contacts, Market Contacts, and Documents to work each side of the relationship.

Accessing the Market Detail Page

  1. Open Left sidebar → Markets → Active Markets. The list of every live market relationship loads.

  2. Click any row in the table to open the detail page for that market.

  3. The page opens on the Profile tab. Use the tab strip at the top of the page to switch between Profile, Producers, Entity Contacts, Market Contacts, and Documents at any time.

The breadcrumb at the top of the page reads Markets followed by the upstream entity's legal name and your organization's legal name (for example, MarketsTravelers / Acme Insurance Services). Click the Markets breadcrumb to return to the list. While the market record is still loading, the breadcrumb shows a loading indicator and then resolves to the real names automatically.

What's visible on the page:

Element

What it shows

Breadcrumb

A Markets link followed by the upstream entity's legal name and your organization's legal name.

Tab strip

Five tabs, each with an icon: Profile, Producers (or Adjusters for claims organizations), Entity Contacts, Market Contacts, Documents. The active tab is highlighted in primary color.

Tab content

The view for whichever tab is selected. The Profile tab is shown by default.

Editing the Market Profile

When you'd do this. A market just sent you a new portal URL, the carrier rebranded under a new DBA, you onboarded an account manager who should now own the relationship, or you need to correct the category (for example, switching a partner from MGA to Wholesaler).

  1. Open the market and stay on the Profile tab.

  2. Click the Edit button at the top right of the Profile area. The Market Profile slide-over opens with the subtitle "Edit market profile details".

  3. Update any of the fields:

Field

Required

Description

Portal URL

No

The upstream's underwriting or producer portal. If you leave off http:// or https://, Turris adds https:// for you when you save. Example: portal.travelers.com.

Website

No

The upstream's public website. Same auto-prefix rule as Portal URL. Example: www.travelers.com.

DBA

No

The trade name or alias the market does business under. Example: Travelers Insurance.

Category

No

The upstream entity's category. Choose from Carrier, MGA, Wholesaler, Third-Party Administrator, Service Provider, or Governmental (State Fund).

Owner

No

The entity contact from your organization who owns this relationship. Only people already added on the Entity Contacts tab appear in this dropdown.

  1. Click Save. The slide-over closes, the Profile sections update with the new values, and a success alert confirms "Market profile updated successfully".

Tip: If the Owner dropdown does not list the person you expect, click the question-mark popover next to the Owner label. It contains a link that opens the Entity Contacts tab in a new browser tab so you can add the contact, then return to finish the edit.

Note: Portal URL and Website are validated as web addresses. If you enter a value that is not a valid URL, the field shows the message "Must be a valid URL (e.g. portal.example.com)" and the form will not save until you correct it.

Note: Only members of your organization with permission to update markets see the Edit button. Read-only members can view every field on the page but cannot open the edit slide-over.

Sharing the Data Room

When you'd do this. A new market contact does not yet have a Turris account, and you want them to verify your agency, review your producer agreements, or confirm E&O, Cyber, W9, and payment information before they appoint you.

The Data Room section sits at the top of the Profile tab and controls whether your data room can be opened by anyone outside Turris.

  1. On the Profile tab, locate the Data Room section at the top of the page.

  2. Toggle the Public / Private switch on the right side of the section. The label next to the switch reads Public or Private to confirm the current mode.

Mode

What it does

Private (default)

External link sharing is off. The sub-line reads "External link sharing is disabled" and a shield icon appears next to the Data Room title. Only Turris users from your organization with the right permissions can see the data room.

Public

Anyone holding the data room link can view the documents you have shared with this market. The sub-line reads "Anyone with the link can view this data room" and a green globe icon appears next to the Data Room title.

  1. When the toggle is set to Public, a panel expands below it with the data room URL. Click the Copy button to the right of the URL to copy it to your clipboard, then paste it into an email or message to your market contact.

Warning: While the Data Room is Public, anyone holding the link can view the linked documents. Switch back to Private as soon as the recipient confirms they no longer need access; the link stops working immediately.

Note: The Data Room section only appears once a data room link exists for the relationship. If you do not see the section yet, the data room is still being provisioned.

Reading the Profile Sections

The Profile tab is organized into four stacked cards. Each card has an icon, a heading, and a grid of labeled fields. Fields that have not been set yet display a dash placeholder.

Section

What it shows

Data Room

The Public / Private toggle, a status sub-line ("Anyone with the link can view this data room" or "External link sharing is disabled"), and, when set to Public, the data room URL with a Copy button.

Details

The upstream entity's legal Name, the Category (shown with its full display name, for example "Third-Party Administrator"), the Portal URL, and the Website. Portal URL and Website appear as clickable links that open in a new tab when populated.

Relationship

The DBA on file for the market. A question-mark popover next to the label explains that DBA stands for "Doing Business As", the trade name or alias the market operates under.

Ownership

The Owner: the full name of the entity contact who owns this relationship, drawn from the people on your Entity Contacts tab.

Navigating the Tabs

Each tab has its own dedicated documentation; the table below summarizes what to expect when you switch in. When you open a tab, the page's web address updates to include the selected tab, so copying the URL takes the recipient straight to the same tab (subject to their permissions).

Tab

What it covers

Profile

The market profile cards (Data Room, Details, Relationship, Ownership) and the Edit action covered above.

Producers (or Adjusters for claims organizations)

The producers your organization has placed with this market, including each producer's per-state license, line-of-authority, and appointment status. Add producers from your wider roster, associate existing producers, or remove ones no longer active.

Entity Contacts

The people from your organization who liaise with this market. Add new contacts directly or pick from your organization-wide contacts, tag each with one or more business roles, and flag one as the Primary Contact.

Market Contacts

The people on the market's side of the relationship: underwriters, territory managers, account managers, claims contacts, and similar carrier-side roles, kept separate from your Entity Contacts.

Documents

The documents that govern the relationship: Producer Agreement, E&O, Cyber, Crime & Fidelity, W9, Payment Details, and other supporting files. Upload documents, upload new versions, reassign ownership, and view the metadata Turris extracts from each upload.

Tip: The tab strip uses an icon next to each label (a dashboard tile for Profile, people for Producers, a contact card for Entity Contacts, a building for Market Contacts, and a document icon for Documents). Use the icons as a quick visual anchor when scanning the page.

Status and Visual Elements

Indicator

Label / location

Meaning

What to do about it

Green globe icon

Next to the Data Room title, with a green Public label by the toggle

The data room is in Public mode and the share link is active.

Confirm the link reached the intended recipient, then switch the toggle back to Private once they confirm they no longer need it.

Gray shield icon

Next to the Data Room title, with a Private label by the toggle

The data room is in Private mode and the share link is inactive.

No action needed. Flip the toggle to Public only when you need to share documents with a market contact who has no Turris account.

Dash placeholder in a field

Anywhere in the Details, Relationship, or Ownership cards

The field has not been set yet.

Click Edit on the Profile tab and fill in the field.

Disabled Owner dropdown in the slide-over

The Edit Market Profile slide-over

There are no entity contacts yet, so no one can be selected as the owner. Clicking the disabled field shows an info alert: "No contacts available, please add contacts in the Entity Contacts tab first."

Use the link in the question-mark popover next to the Owner label to open the Entity Contacts tab, add at least one contact, then return to the slide-over.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can edit the market profile? Members of your organization with permission to update markets see the Edit button on the Profile tab and the Public / Private toggle on the Data Room section. Members with read-only access see every field on the page but cannot change them.

Why doesn't the Owner dropdown show the person I expect? Only people on the Entity Contacts tab can be selected as the relationship owner. If the person is not listed, switch to the Entity Contacts tab, add them there (as a new contact or by selecting an existing organization contact), then return to the Profile tab and reopen Edit.

What's the difference between Entity Contacts and Market Contacts? Entity Contacts are the people from your organization who manage the relationship. Market Contacts are the people on the market's side, such as underwriters, territory managers, and account managers. Keeping the two lists separate makes it easier to route follow-ups to the right side of the relationship.

Can a public data room link be revoked? Yes. Switch the Data Room toggle back to Private. The previously shared link stops working immediately and the URL panel disappears from the section.

Where do Documents come from? You upload them directly from the Documents tab. Once uploaded, Turris extracts metadata from supported document types (E&O, Cyber, Crime & Fidelity, W9, Payment Details, and Producer Agreement) and shows it in a structured card.

Why are my Portal URL and Website saved with https:// in front of them? When you save the slide-over, Turris adds https:// to any value that does not already start with http:// or https://, so the links stay clickable from the Profile page. If your portal only supports http://, type the full URL including the scheme.

Can I share a link to a specific tab? Yes. The selected tab is reflected in the page's web address. Copy the URL while on the tab you want to share, and the recipient lands on the same tab when they open it (subject to their permissions).

Best Practices

  1. Start on the Profile tab when opening a market for the first time. Confirm the category, owner, and DBA so the rest of the team has the right context before they dive into producer rosters or documents.

  2. Assign an Owner for every market relationship. The Owner is the entity contact accountable for keeping the relationship's data current, and colleagues can find them quickly when they have questions.

  3. Keep the Data Room toggle on Private by default. Switch it to Public only when you are actively sharing onboarding documents with a market contact, and switch it back as soon as the recipient confirms they have what they need.

  4. Use Entity Contacts and Market Contacts deliberately. Never mix carrier-side underwriters into Entity Contacts. Clean separation keeps the Owner picker accurate and outbound communication easy to manage.

  5. Save Portal URL and Website with the scheme included. Turris defaults to https:// when no scheme is present; if the market's portal only supports http://, type the full URL so the saved link still works.

  6. Upload Producer Agreements, E&O, Cyber, W9, and Payment Details under their dedicated categories on the Documents tab. The structured metadata Turris extracts only renders when the document is filed under the correct category.
